A short video about how all of us should strive to “be more dog”

I have no idea what this commercial is about, and I love it. It’s catch-line is “be more dog” – meaning, an animal that seizes the day, has fun, rolls in the mud, chases cars, etc.

But I still have no idea what the commercial is really pushing. It has some wonderful lines too:

“I used to be a cat. I’d be aloof before lunch. Then coldly indifferent after.”

It’s a short video, and quite funny:

I used to walk the Sonoma County trail every morning at dawn. There lived a cat named Bruiser, who used to hang out in the undergrowth, catch mice, and other critters, and who gave considerable attitude, complete with stand-up hair and tail when folks tried to be nice to him. He scared some of the hikers. I learned that he grew up with two Pit Bull puppies as siblings. He liked me for some reason and often came running up to me—-probably because I gave him dog treats that he liked.

If my cat saw this, she would hack up a hairball.

The web site mentioned at end of video is apparently part of ad campaign by a mobile phone outfit in the UK, O2. There are links at the bottom for the company, and an iPhone.

Had a tom cat who would follow us around whenever we walked the dog. These were many mile long hikes. Clearly the cat saw our dog as some sort of protector, yet he still preferred to run from tree to tree fo added security. Strangest pack animal cat we ever had.

I had a cat who would be like a dog in that I taught him tricks, he come when I called his name and follow me everywhere wanting more and more affection.

One day he even followed me into my car once where I didn’t even notice him till I parked at my high school parking lot and his furry head poked up from the rear passenger seat when I was getting a project due that day out of the trunk. Don’t worry, I brought him back home so he wouldn’t freeze in the New England winter in my car immediately.)
