Video montage of people getting puppies for Christmas (video)

Getting a dog was a lifelong dream of mine (after having dogs as a kid). But I have to say, now that I have a dog – having a dog is like having a child. It’s far more responsibility than I ever imagined. And far more than having a cat.

I’m glad I have my dog, but it’s still a life-changer, having someone extra to look out for, come home to even when you’d rather stay out a few more hours, someone extra you have to worry about if you’re thinking of jetting away for a weekend, etc.

Parents need to be seriously aware that they’re adopting another half-child, and not fall into the familiar trap of getting a pet at Christmas, and then giving it away by Easter (here’s one argument for why not to get pets at Christmas, I think the arguments, as presented, are a bit extreme, though the overall concern is valid).

With that in mind, this montage of kids and adults getting puppies for Christmas is awfully adorable.

My ex gave me a cat the last Christmas we were together. That was the best gift he could have given. He was long gone, but my precious animal companion was still with me till she eventually died at age 13.

On the other hand, when he moved out, he left his two dogs with me, and although I loved them dearly, they barked a lot, and needed to be let out in the yard, and to be cleaned up after, and needed so much more care. After each of them died, I knew I never wanted another dog. Cats are so much more independent and easier to care for.

    to be young again.

  3. I don’t like the idea of putting a dog in a box. I know it’s just for a few seconds…but he/she’s probably scared.

I would love a cat for Christmas. Unfortunately, my apartment complex would want $400 for that to happen!

You just-kind-of-never hear about wanting a cat for Christmas.
